Preparing our community for the tech jobs of today and tomorrow.
Technology is The Future of Work
Technology is one of the fastest growing industries across the United States. With over 12 million workers and a average salary above $125,000, technology is the third largest sector in the U.S. economy.* However, Black and Hispanic communities are unable to benefit from the rapid growth of tech jobs due to a lack of exposure, training, and experience.
To combat these trends, Austin Urban Technology Movement (AUTM) focuses on job placement, career development, and networking opportunities to increase diversity in tech and eliminate the skills gap across the industry.
Diversity in Tech and Skills Gap Challenge
The overrepresentation of whites and Asians represents the lack of diversity in today's tech ecosystem.
With whites and Asians making up 81% of the tech workforce, they outnumber Blacks and Hispanics 5 to 1 - consisting of only 15% of the tech industry.**
In order to prepare our entire workforce for the jobs of today and tomorrow, AUTM's awareness to employment pipeline is building the workforce development ecosystem and exposing Black and Hispanic communities to the tech industry.
