AUTM Website - Workforce Development Pho

Are you looking to enter the tech industry or enhance your current skills?

Technology is one of the fastest growing industries across the United States. With over 12 million workers and a average salary above $125,000, technology is the third largest sector in the U.S. economy.* However, Black and Hispanic communities are unable to benefit from the rapid growth of tech jobs due to a lack of exposure, training, and experience.

To combat these trends, Austin Urban Technology Movement (AUTM) focuses on job placement, career development, and networking opportunities to increase diversity in tech and eliminate the skills gap across the industry.

Eliminating the Skills Gap and Lack of Diversity in Tech

The overrepresentation of whites and Asians account for the lack of diversity in the tech industry, while the underrepresentation of Blacks and Hispanics adds to the skills gap we are experiencing in today's tech ecosystem.

Whites and Asians make up 85% of the U.S. labor force and 81% of the tech workforce; however, Blacks and Hispanics account for 30% of the U.S. population, but only 15% of the tech industry.**

In order to prepare our entire workforce for the jobs of today and tomorrow, AUTM's awareness to employment pipeline is building the workforce development ecosystem and exposing Black and Hispanic communities to the tech industry.
