Eddy Reyes is an entrepreneur and software engineer who has spent his career trying to make coding more approachable from both a technology and community perspective. He was born and raised in Hialeah, FL, one of the largest Cuban American communities in the United States, and gained a fascination with computers and software at a young age. He attended Florida International University, where he earned a B.S. in Computer Science.
Eddy helped fund his own education by working as an IT technician for various Miami restaurants, and later as a systems administrator at the FIU School of Computer Science. After graduating, Eddy moved to Austin, TX in 2003 to work at IBM, where he began his long career in systems engineering and software development tools.
After working at various companies, Eddy became an entrepreneur and founded two companies- Tasqr and Mindsight- to further make software development and cloud computing more approachable to teams. During this time, Eddy also started the Austin Hispanic Hackers meetup, which has grown into the largest LatinX technology community in the Austin area with over 2000 members. The Austin Hispanic Hackers community has helped many members get their start in the tech industry, and has been a strong support network for Austin's LatinX entrepreneurs. Eddy is beginning the next phase of his career working as a production engineer at Facebook.
